Wolves are hot; Knicks definitely not
Preview: The Wolves have won 10 of their past 13 games and seven straight at home, and that includes double-digit wins over New Orleans, Cleveland and Oklahoma City in the first three games of this five-game homestand. But, even with that victory over Cleveland on Monday, the Wolves are just 5-10 vs. Eastern Conference teams this season, 3-5 at home. The Knicks, coming off an overtime loss to Chicago, have lost eight of their past 10 games, with both of those victories coming on the road against Western Conference opponents. The Knicks have won four straight games vs. Wolves.
Players to watch: Wolves G Jimmy Butler scored 10 of his 26 points in the crucial third quarter of Wednesday's win over the Thunder. Butler has scored 21 or more in three straight had has 25 assists in those games. F Andrew Wiggins has shot 17-for-34 in his past three games. Knicks F Michael Beasley — the former Wolves forward — has averaged 22 points and 10.3 rebounds in his past three appearances. F Kristaps Porzingis is averaging 23.7 points and 6.7 rebounds.
Numbers: The Wolves have started strong, building a lead of 10 or more points in eight of the past 11 first quarters. The Wolves are 14-4 when their opponent scores under 100 points.
Injuries: The Wolves report no injuries. Knicks G Tim Hardaway Jr. (leg) is questionable.
