Preview: This is the first game in a rather strange portion of the Wolves' schedule. After playing in New York, the Wolves will return to host Sacramento on Friday, then return east to play in Brooklyn on Sunday. After a strong start on the road, the Wolves have now lost three consecutive road games. … The Knicks, who just completed a three-game road trip out West, ended a four-game losing streak with a 112-110 victory in Portland on Saturday.

Players to watch: This will be the first game at Madison Square Garden for Wolves rookies Karl-Anthony Towns and Nemanja Bjelica. G Kevin Martin scored 37 points in a victory over the Knicks last season in a game in which he sustained a broken right wrist. … Knicks F Carmelo Anthony leads the Knicks in scoring (21.8), rookie F/C Kristaps Porzingis averages 13.6 points and G Arron Affalo is averaging 12.6 points.

Numbers: The Wolves won both meetings between the two teams last season, in the process ending a four-game losing streak to the Knicks.

Injuries: Wolves C Nikola Pekovic (Achilles' surgery) is out. The Knicks report no injuries.
