WNBA president Donna Orender will be the keynote speaker at the Lynx "Rally Call" Thursday at the Woman's Club of Minneapolis.

Orender will discuss the upcoming WNBA season, and Gophers women's basketball coach Pam Borton and Lynx players also will speak. The event, which runs from 6-8 p.m., is free and open to the public. Gymnastics event is coming to St. Paul USA Gymnastics has announced that the Freedom Cup, an International Gymnastics Federation World Cup event, will be held at St. Paul's Roy Wilkins Auditorium on July 10-12.

The meet will feature more than 200 athletes in the discipline of acrobatic gymnastics, which combines dance, tumbling and acrobatic skills performed by groups of two to four partners. The U.S. Acrobatic Gymnastics Junior Olympics national championships also will be held in conjunction with the Freedom Cup.

Etc. • Former Duluth East standout Kara Goucher heads the U.S. women's marathon team that will compete at the world championships at Berlin in August. Goucher earned her spot by finishing third at the New York City Marathon in November in 2 hours, 25 minutes, 53 seconds.

• The National Lacrosse League (NLL) announced that Swarm forward Kevin Buchanan was named to the 2009 NLL All-Rookie Team.

• The St. Paul Saints completed their exhibition season by defeating the Winnipeg Goldeyes 6-1 on Tuesday, sweeping the three-game series. The Saints open their 2009 American Association season on the road Thursday night against the Sioux Falls Canaries.
