The winter meetings confidential staff is back! We'll provide newsy tidbits from around the lobby the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego as baseball's hot stove is turned up to HIGH.

This edition is all Twins-related, starting with General Manager Terry Ryan announcing he has no interest in being president of the Blue Jays, as a report had him linked to the club. Ryan spoke to members of his staff Sunday, telling them he had no intention of leaving as long as he's wanted. "My heart is with the Minnesota Twins,'' he told reporters Monday.

Ryan said he's had "serious talks'' with clubs about pitching help. The WMC staff has learned the Twins have shown interest in righthanders Dustin McGowan, Logan Ondrusek, John Axford and Alexi Ogando. Agents for Axford and Ogando met with the Twins on Monday.

The Twins lost first baseman Chris Colabello to Toronto on waivers. Ryan said the Twins expected a club to claim Colabello, who was fabulous for the first 20 games of the season before falling apart. He tried to play with a thumb injury that affected his production, and he never recovered. Now the Twins have a spot open on their 40-man roster. They can select someone in the Rule 5 draft Thursday or make a trade or sign a free agent this week.
