2015 Domaine Bousquet Chardonnay

It's about time people stopped looking at Argentine's wine scene as monolithic. These days, it's about much more than Mendoza malbec. For the second time this year, an Argentine chardonnay has reminded me why I fell in love with the grape in the first place. The 2015 Domaine Bousquet Chardonnay ($14) is rife with purity and harmony, from the floral/citrus nose to the rich fruit flavors to the bracing finish (they really nailed the acidity on this beauty). An unoaked wine made from grapes grown in the Uco Valley at an elevation of 4,000 feet, this chard would dance with fruits of the sea or stream or lake; think grilled trout or fried panfish. Or just sitting on the shore or dock and sipping alfresco.

Available at Tournament, Zipps, Liquor Barrel (Mahtomedi), On the Rocks, Whole Foods Market (Minneapolis), the Vintage and Carey's Liquor.
