WINE

The conventional wisdom is that Portuguese wines haven't caught on because of the unfamiliar grape names. It's certainly not because of their flavor or value. The Samora Tejo white blend ($11) delivers layers of fruit (citrus, peach, melon) en route to a clean and refreshing finish thanks to spot-on minerally goodness. The grapes: fernão pires and arinto, of course. Quaff this screamin' bargain of a wine with grilled or boiled shrimp, sweet corn or most any fruit salad or sauce. Or on its own outdoors during the dwindling pool and patio season. Available at Sorella, On the Rocks, BrightWines, Pairings, Tournament, MGM Forest Lake, McDonald's and others.
