Wine
Although some naysayers deny it, Beaujolais is part of Burgundy, so its white wines are made from chardonnay. And gorgeous chardonnay it is for 2012 Domaine Pral Beaujolais Blanc ($15). With a clean, floral nose, it starts off a bit restrained, with spot-on acid and mineral leading the way before waves of citrus and stone fruit flavors envelop the palate. The fruit shines throughout the long finish. Break out that shrimp-on-the-barbie recipe, or bring it to a Friday fish fry, or enjoy with any seafood. Or just sip it al fresco now that patio season is finally here.
Available at Byerly's/Lunds, Apollo, Lowry Hill, On the Rocks and Northwest (Rochester).
