The Twins warned us.

Justin Morneau is playing first base today, with Joe Mauer the DH and new hero Clete Thomas in right field.

The bigger news might be Josh Willingham batting between Mauer and Morneau. I've gotta run down to the clubhouse and find out how they are handling the breakup. Did Gardy tell them together or separately? Did he have to do it in a public place to try to keep them from making a scene? Were there lawyers on hand?

Here's the lineup. Will check back with updates

UPDATES: Newsy day in the media capitol of the world. Lefthander Glen Perkins has tenderness in his forearm. He underwent an MRI exam, which confirmed the issue. Perkins has been shut down for a couple of days. In fact, he's not even with the team. Twins GM Terry Ryan said Perkins will be evaluated in a couple of days.

Righthander Nick Blackburn (shoulder cramp) will miss at least on start. That means Anthony Swarzak and Liam Hendriks will remain in the rotation.

Jason Marquis threw in the bullpen on Monday and will be officially called up on Wednesday to make his Twins debut against the Yankees.

Josh Willingham has been named AL player of the week.
