Wilco and Weezer will headline the eighth annual 80/35 music festival in Des Moines on July 10-11, it was announced Tuesday morning.

There are two ways to view this announcement: Do Minnesota music lovers want to make the five-hour drive to see these rock faves along with Jenny Lewis, Talib Kweli and Run the Jewels? Or might we see this as a sign that Weezer and Wilco will headline the annual Basilica Block Party that same weekend in Minneapolis?

Those two veteran bands have been rumored for the Basilica, which hasn't said when it will announce the lineup for its 21st annual church fundraiser set for July 10-11.

The Iowa festival, which is run by a nonprofit organization, is a much bigger event, presenting nearly four-dozen acts in two days. The Basilica bash is an evening-only affair, with about 20 acts over two days.

Sponsored by Cities 97, the Basilica Block Party has more competition for acts than ever, with the Current's Rock the Garden expanded to two days for a second consecutive summer (Belle & Sebastian, Modest Mouse, Courtney Barnett and Babes in Toyland are set for June 20-21) and the revamped Go 96.3 FM presenting concerts with such new faces as Banks and New Politics.

Moreover, this summer's concert schedule is already crowded with names that might have appealed to Basilica bookers — Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Alabama Shakes, Father John Misty, Tedeschi Trucks Band, My Morning Jacket, Trampled by Turtles' Palomino Festival, plus Justin Vernon's 40-act Eaux Claires Festival featuring the National, Spoon and Sufjan Stevens.
