You want offense? Leafs bring plenty

Preview: Wild coach Bruce Boudreau called Toronto "maybe the best team in the league" with "probably the most potent offense" his team is going to see in a while. The Leafs beefed up with a high-profile offseason signing of center John Tavares, who has 17 goals.

Quotable: "It is the Maple Leafs. It is Hockey Night in Canada. Most of us are Canadian. So I mean, you want to put your best foot forward. And you know a lot of your family and friends are watching, and you don't want to pull a clunker when they're watching." — Toronto native and Wild coach Bruce Boudreau

By the numbers: Toronto RW Mitchell Marner (six goals, 30 assists, 36 points) is third in the NHL in scoring. Goalie Frederik Andersen leads the league with 14 wins and sports a 2.26 goals-against average and .932 save percentage.

Decision day: The Maple Leafs have until 5 p.m. Saturday to figure out star young winger William Nylander's contract situation, or he will be ineligible to play this season. The drama has been clouding the Leafs for months, but finally having clarity just before puck drop with the Wild might give the team some sort of boost.
