There's still a lot of details to be ironed out, but it's looking like the Wild will honor Hall of Famer and Minnesota North Stars legend Dino Ciccarelli before the Dec. 16 game against the Ottawa Senators. More than half of Ciccarelli's 608 career goals came with the North Stars.

It's a pretty fitting date/opponent, too, because Senators GM Bryan Murray was one of the most instrumental figures in Ciccarelli's career. Murray coached the Washington Capitals when Ciccarelli was traded there by Minnesota in the Mike Gartner/Larry Murphy trade.

Then, as Detroit's GM and Florida's GM, Murray traded for Ciccarelli twice, once from Washington, the other from Tampa Bay.

Wild GM Chuck Fletcher was also Florida's assistant GM when Murray acquired him there. Ciccarelli's career ended with the Panthers.

Then, on Dec. 17, Lou Nanne, the man who gave the undrafted Ciccarelli his first shot in the NHL after shattering his leg in junior, will be hosting a party in honor of Ciccarelli at his house. Several North Stars alumni from the area is expected to attend the party.

If you missed my Sunday column on Ciccarelli from earlier this month a day before his Hall of Fame induction, here's the link.
