Good late evening from inside Pepsi Center, where the Wild shut out the Avs. The Wild improved to 12-1-2 in its past 15 against Colorado, and Backstrom improved to 14-2-2 all-time vs. the Avs.
Antti Miettinen scored for the seventh time in eight games 5:57 into the game, and the Wild clung to that lead the rest of the game. The Wild's now 2-11-1 when scoring less than three goals and improved to 11-5-3 in one-goal games, tied with New Jersey for the most one-goal wins in the NHL. The Wild had 19 all of last season.
Not much to add from the game. Not a fun game to watch. Not much going by either side, and I can only imagine what VERSUS thought of this one. As I said on Twitter, it set VERSUS back to the Outdoor Life Network days.
Wild killed six minors -- three from John Scott, two from Greg Zanon.
I can't imagine what the boxscores will look like tomorrow because there were technical difficulties all game and they just handed us an official game sheet that is filled with inaccurate slop from shots to Backstrom allegedly playing 57:44 instead of 60 minutes, to Clutterbuck, Smith and Kobasew somehow getting pluses for the Miettinen-Koivu-Brunette goal, to saves and shots different in different places.
What a mess.
Anyway, this is the worst postgame blog in the history of my postgame blogs, but I'll let the game story do my talking today if you don't mind. I am run down with some of the remnants of whatever's going through the team, I believe.
Early flight for me, another 4 a.m. wakeup call. Talk to you when I get to Calgary via Minneapolis. Come meet me at the airport for a coffee.
