Stuck outside of the "frozen" convention floor, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak had time to answer the question this Hot Disher has always wanted to ask him: Why teal?

Why pick the um, interesting if a bit glaring, color for his campaign theme? Green, sure. Blue, ok. Red, been there. But teal?

Rybak explained: when he was first running for mayor a decade ago, he had to pick a campaign color. A challenger with little political experience, he wanted something fresh.

He talked to ardent volunteer Thom Sandberg, a designer about his need, and, Rybak said: "He picked the teal."

Rybak said some supporters had suggested maybe dropping the color for his gubernatorial campaign. What about blue, they said.

"Over my dead teal body," Rybak reported he replied.
