One year ago, in our own small way, Whistleblower embarked on a mission to ensure the proper functioning of Minnesota's election machinery. We enlisted your help, publishing your accounts of broken voting machines, registration troubles, improper electioneering and other problems at the polls, and checking them out ourselves whenever possible. The result was a polling place traffic report for election day, a powerful way to use your experiences to enhance our reporting.

We need your help again this year. In the metro, voters will choose at least 14 mayors. At least 22 cities have council races, and 38 school boards are electing members.

In particular, Whistleblower wants Minneapolis voters to tell us whether they were thrilled, intrigued or bamboozled with the debut of ranked choice voting in the elections for mayor, city council, park board and board of estimate and taxation. The best way to reach us is by email (whistleblower@startribune.com). Just like last year, we want to give your accounts from the polls, but we'll need a full name and a valid email or phone number so we can confirm.
