Strip clubs, sex-themed shops and bars or clubs featuring adult entertainment are restricted by city ordinances to specific zones in downtown Minneapolis, and also can't be located along Nicollet Mall or within 500-feet of places like schools, libraries and religious institutions.

This map shows where some of those buffer zones might be, according to a Star Tribune analysis, highlighting the narrow areas adult-themed businesses can operate in the city. Note that this may not be comprehensive and may be subject to change over time.

Additionally, some establishments downtown predate the current ordinance, and there are various other shops, bars and clubs located elsewhere in Minneapolis that feature some form of adult-themed content, yet are considered different enough by city regulators to not be affected by the ordinance's zoning rules.
