Pie. Never enough pie.

Hereâ s the tastiest heads-up youâ ll get today: Next Wednesday, Jan. 23, is National Pie Day, as proclaimed by the American Pie Council, a group devoted to the â awareness, enjoyment and consumption of pies.â (Visit www.piecouncil.org for recipes and such.) Some stats: One in five Americans prefer apple pie, followed by pumpkin (13 percent), pecan (12 percent), banana cream (10 percent) and cherry (9 percent). Thirty-five percent of Americans say theyâ ve had pie for breakfast. (Duh.)

Turkish food classes

The Womenâ s Club of the Turkish American Society of Minnesota (TASMN) is offering a series of monthly cooking classes with experienced chefs teaching both modern and traditional Turkish dishes, which then will be served. The Feb. 10 class, for instance, will be about ispanakli gozleme, mercimek koftesi and havuclu toplar (Turkish flatbread with spinach filling, red lentil patties and sweet carrot balls). Youâ ll also learn a bit about the Turkish culture and lifestyle. Chocolate party

Chocolate BonaVita is hosting its first Chocolate Club party from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Valcucine showroom in International Market Square, 275 Market St., Minneapolis. Chocolates from the 2012 International Chocolate Awards competition will be sampled and paired with wine. Cost is $20 (free to members of the Chocolate Club). Wedge grants awarded

The Wedge Co-op (www.wedge.coop) will award $75,000 in WedgeShare grants to nine community organizations at a 10 a.m. event Thursday at the co-op, 2015 Lyndale Av. S. in Minneapolis. The groups are being recognized for their support of food shelves, community gardening and fresh food education, and local sustainable and safe food systems. They are the Emergency Foodshelf Network, Open Arms of Minnesota, Water Legacy, Minnesota Food Association, Community Design Center of MN, Centro Campesino, Great River Greening, Midtown Farmers Market and Cycles for Change. Since 1997, the WedgeShare grant program has awarded more then $600,000 to organizations whose community work aligns with caring for others.

Clarification
