CSA guide available

More than 70 farms in the Twin Cities region are getting ready for the upcoming growing season and the ability to deliver vegetables and other locally produced foods to households. Which one is right for you? Look for answers in the Land Stewardship Project's 2016 Twin Cities Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Farm Directory, now available free at landstewardshipproject.org/stewardshipfood/csa or by calling 612-722-6377. CSA shares tend to sell out by early spring, so consumers are encouraged to contact the farms soon.

World's best sheep yogurt

Props to Wisconsin-based Rochdale Farms dairy cooperative, which draws from farmers in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Its sheep milk yogurt earned a bronze medal in the non-cow milk category at the World Championship Cheese Contest earlier this month in Madison, Wis. The gold medal went to a water buffalo yogurt and silver to a goat yogurt, making Rochdale's entry "the best's sheep milk yogurt in the world," as they delighted in announcing on their Facebook page. The yogurt is made using single-sourced, batch-tested sheep milk from Mayfell Family Sheep Dairy Farm of Amery, Wis.
