Spring means rhubarb, and in Lanesboro, Minn., rhubarb means festival. This year, it also means cookbook. Bloggers bake to fight hunger The Minnesota Chapter of National Food Bloggers hosts the 2011 Great American Bake Sale at Midtown Global Market's Kitchen in the Market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds benefit Share Our Strength, which fights childhood hunger in America. It's a chance to eat, do good works, but also get to know some of the more than 30 local bloggers who are participating in this nationwide event. The market is at 920 E. Lake St. in Minneapolis.

Les Dames host la sale Les Dames D'Escoffier of Minneapolis are having a combination garage sale and bake sale May 19-20 to raise money for the Eastside Garden Corps at the Community Design Center, and for scholarships for women in the culinary industry. Items for sale include kitchen utensils and culinary collectibles such as vintage cookbooks, linens and small pieces of furniture, plus garden equipment, vintage garden books, baskets and gardening tools.
