WHAT IS BIOMASS?

Materials from agriculture or logging can be burned or gasified, and are called biomass.

Wood: Chips from tree trimmers, wood pellets from logs, waste lumber, logging slash.

Corn stover: Parts of the corn plant, including cobs, left after the kernels are harvested.

Ag residue: Hulls, small seeds and other plant material left after grain processing.

Energy crops: Switchgrass or other perennial grasses.

Animal waste such as poultry litter.
