Blessed Trinity hosts big rummage sale

With more than 400 households contributing merchandise, Blessed Trinity will host a rummage sale May 6 to 9 at its Nicollet campus gym, 6720 Nicollet Av. S.

Presale day, from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, will include a $1 admission fee. The sale will continue from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7. May 8, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be half-price day. May 9, from 8 a.m. to noon, will be a $5 Bag Day.

'Shrek' to be staged at Kennedy High

Kennedy High School will present "Shrek: The Musical" at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matinee performance on Sunday in the Kennedy High School auditorium, 9701 Nicollet Av. S.

The show is based on the DreamWorks Animation motion picture and the book by William Steig, which tells the story of a green ogre.

Tickets for the show are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. They will be available at the door one hour before each performance or in advance by calling 952-681-5231. Audience members are invited to dress as their favorite fairy tale characters.

American Indian Education Day set

The 20th Annual American Indian Education Day & Wacipi will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Osseo Junior High, 10223 93rd Av. N. A wacipi is a Native American gathering focused on dance, song and family celebration.

At the free, family-friendly event, participants can explore American Indian heritage and culture.

Highlights will include artisan exhibits, demonstrations, college recruitment, community and curriculum resources, and contemporary Native American dancing and drumming.

There also will be a ceremony honoring local American Indian graduating seniors. Free curriculum resources will be available for educators, as well as one-on-one support for infusing new material into existing lesson plans in accordance with state standards.
