Eden Prairie

Miracle Field will be built in Eden Prairie

On a Miracle Field, every player scores a run, bats once each inning and both teams leave winners. Come summer 2015, Eden Prairie will be getting a Miracle Field.

Fundraising has begun in an effort to build the $200,000 baseball field, which would allow special-needs students to play baseball. The field is made of a rubberized surface, includes accessible dugouts and a flat playing surface.

The Eden Prairie Miracle Field will be built on the east side of Flying Cloud Fields on Pioneer Trail.

Donations are being accepted through the Eden Prairie Foundation and are tax-deductible. For more information or to donate, go to www.epcommunityfoundation.org.

Robbinsdale

District schedules weather makeup days

The Robbinsdale school district is recommending modifications to the calendar to the school board to make up instructional time that half-day kindergarten students lost to chilly weather.

With five days lost, the district currently meets the required number of days for students in grades 1-12 and there is no plan to make up these days if there are no additional cancellations.

Unlike grades 1-12, kindergarten is governed by instructional hours vs. instructional days, and half-day kindergarten has fallen below the minimum number of required hours.

To make up missed instructional time for half-day kindergarten, the plan is as follows:

• Convert March 6 and 7 parent-teacher conference days to instructional days for half-day kindergarten students.

• Kindergarten parents will schedule conferences with teachers on regular conference nights.

If any additional kindergarten conference nights are added, it will be communicated by the school. Absences will be excused for those who must miss those days.
