SANTA FE, N.M. — Actor Wes Studi is apologizing for his conduct toward police during his recent arrest for aggravated drunken driving in New Mexico.

A Santa Fe police officer's report says Studi was loud and vulgar toward officers. But Studi's statement of apology says officers "remained very professional" despite his behavior.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports (http://bit.ly/11rQOGn ) Studi's statement issued Monday through a public relations firm also said he couldn't comment on his legal situation but that he was sorry for hurting family, friends and supporters.

Studi has pleaded not guilty. He was arrested early Friday after he was found with a car with two damaged tires in the middle of a street.

The Santa Fe resident appeared in "Dances with Wolves" and "The Last of the Mohicans," and has had roles in several TV shows.
