Wells Fargo is the latest financial institution to urge customers affected by the Minnesota government shutdown to talk to a banker.

From the release:

In other words, "we'll work with you. Just give us a call." Sounds very similar to the message the bank has been sending consumers throughout the mortgage mess. And we know how well that's turned out for many.

This announcement comes on the heels of a more detailed offer from U.S. Bank that allows customers hurt by the shutdown to skip a payment on an array of consumer loans without penalty or impact to credit score.

But the credit unions serving state workers were the first to create contingency plans for its customers, as detailed in this story from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal (you may need a subscription):

Do you know of any other banks offering relief to state workers or businesses offering discounts or deals for shutdown victims?
