As metro area motorists deal with another shut down on Hwy. 100 - although this one for only 24 hours - drivers escaping the city for what looks to be a delightful weekend from a weather-wise will hit the biggest snags.

Both directions of Hwy. 52 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday between Hwy. 50 in Farmington and Hwy. 19 in Cannon Falls, sending drivers heading to the Dakota County Fair on detour. To the north, I-35 has single lane between Pine City and Hinckley. Interstate 94 is single lane between Hwy. 23 in the St. Cloud area and Collegeville.

Metro drivers will have hassles of their own as a portion of northbound Hwy. 280 closes for weekend. Intermittent lane closures on the Mendota Bridge, Hwy. 5 and I-94 in downtown Minneapolis could spawn traffic tie-ups. So don't expect any easy trips to Twins games Friday through Sunday at Target Field, or Saints games or the Irish Fair of Minnesota on Harriet Island in St. Paul. The YMCA Women's Triathlon will bring closures on roads around Minnehaha Park and Lake Nokomis on Sunday morning.

Here is your guide to this weekend's road construction:
