Road construction and track maintenance will hinder travel in the metro area this weekend, one that's chock full with celebrations and large traffic-generating events.

On the roads, a full closure of Hwy. 5 over the Mississippi River near Fort Snelling and a partial closure on Hwy. 100 through St. Louis Park and Edina will put drivers on detour.

On the rails, Green Line trains won't run between Target Field and the Raymond Avenue Station while Blue Line trains won't run between Target Field and the Lake Street/Midtown Station from 7 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Monday. Buses will fill in. To see where to catch buses, see www.metrotransit.org.

The Basilica Block Party will bring extra traffic to the area bounded by I-94, Hennepin Avenue, 15th Street and I-394 in downtown Minneapolis. Washington Avenue will be closed from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday between 1st and 8th Avenues N. for the Open Streets celebration. The LifeTime Fitness Triathlon takes place around Minnehaha Park and on surrounding parkways. The Lynx have a home game Friday night at Target Center.

Law enforcement will be looking for lead foot drivers as part of a speeding crackdown through July 22.
