A major blast of arctic air will overwhelm the eastern two-thirds of the nationthis weekend, while the lake-effect snow machine starts up again downwind ofthe Great Lakes.New record low temperatures will likely be set across the Deep South, withpotential for a damaging freeze.

Much of the far West will remain mild and generally dry. The exception will bethe Northwest coast, as rain creeps in off the Pacific.
