Jon Marthaler bakes up a batch of delicious links just for you. Other times, you can find him here and here. This makes two posts for Jon and none for us in the past week. Whose blog is this, anyway? Ah, but we'll be back at full strength starting Monday, rested and ready after several days in the sun. For now, enjoy these tasty treats. Jon?

Happy Saturday! The whole area seems a-twitter about Target Field - especially about the concessions available. John Bonnes has your rundown, and also may be the early leader in the "Gain the Most Weight Due to Murray's Steak Sandwiches" competition. The Strib's Joe Christensen may be in second place. We may all end up gaining a Ballpark 15 this year, I guess.

On with the lin- wait, I see I've already started with the links. To continue, then:

*Some Joe Mauer hilarity - in cartoon/video game form. If you grew up in the 1980s, you will be delighted.

*I linked last week to Spencer Hall's trip to Talladega; part two of the trip for SBNation.com visited a powerlifting competition. In the category of "things worn": weight belts, singlets, and - oh yes - mustaches.

*I loved baseball cards as a kid. RandBall has said that he used to add up the statistics on the backs of his cards. And then, somehow, people started viewing them as investments - which totally ruined everything. Deadspin has a nice look at the downfall of card collecting. (I, personally, am going to blame the baby boomers for this one, much as I blame them for everything.)

*Previously in this space, I've fawned over Will Leitch's season-preview baseball essays. Now here they all are, collected in one spot - including the Twins essay. If you like baseball, you should be gone from here and reading there.

*And finally - some notes from a meeting with David Kahn. I will give Kahn much credit -- decision-making aside, he's one of the most forthright and open sports figures we've ever had in this town. (NOTE: I give you permission to ignore all political commentary at the bottom of said post.)

That'll do it for me; there's baseball downtown again today. It's on TV. It's all delightful. Please enjoy the wonderful newness of all of this, and remember what it's like; soon enough the magic will wear off, and Target Field will just be the place we go for baseball games. Don't forget what it was like now, at the beginning. It would be a shame.
