PLAYER SPEAK DE Jared Allen

• Allen spent the past six seasons with the Vikings, piling up 85.5 sacks in 96 games. It will be the first time the possible Hall of Famer faces Minnesota since he signed with the Bears in the offseason.

• Allen has 1.5 sacks in eight games with a forced fumble and 32 tackles this season.

• On facing the Vikings:  "Maybe a little nostalgic. I'm excited though. It's going to be a fun game. It's always fun when you get to play against your friends. A lot of the guys on the team are still there, so I'm excited to compete against my old brethren."

• On not facing running back Adrian Peterson: "It's going to be exciting not to see him there on Sunday. You've got to remember, I've played against him before [when Allen was in Kansas City]. But it's going to be different. The run game they've got going on now is doing well. It's a solid 1-2
punch."

COACH SPEAK Marc Trestman

• Trestman, 58, is in his second season as the Bears head coach. He's 11-14 through 25 games in his first NFL head coaching position.

• On the defensive issues the past two games: "Well, everything. It's that simple. I'm not going to go into every detail. We certainly haven't played well enough in any phase of football."

• On the slow starts in the first half: "Hopefully we can start fast, but it's a four-quarter game. Our intent will be to start fast like every football team does and finish strong."

• On Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater: "I'm really impressed with his poise. He seems like he's going to be a very accurate passer. ... I think he's being very well coached, and we see him as a highly competitive guy. I think the Vikings are lucky to have him. He's going to be very good for them in the years to come."
