Well then, an interesting and entertaining sports week just became one of the most fascinating times to be a Minnesota sports fan. We were already on the cusp of finding out if the new-look Twins -- no longer a small-market, indoor team that should expect to cower in the face of the Yankees -- are really up for the challenge of Game 1 of the ALDS at their fancy new outdoor ballpark. (Hey, even Alex Rodriguez got into the act Tuesday, saying "I mean, for us to be David in this situation I think is great." Nobody believed him, and many audibly laughed, but still).

But now we come to find out that the one thing we would have said three years ago was just as implausible as Brett Favre ever playing for the Vikings is also about to come true. Yes, Randy Moss is reportedly coming back to Minnesota, and all it took to get the Super Freak is a third-round pick.

On so many levels, this is bewildering and exciting. Our enthusiasm can't even be dampened by the RandBall Better Half's reaction when we told her: "Why did the Vikings get Randy Moss again? Isn't he a [redacted]?"

HE'S SIMPLY MISUNDERSTOOD.

But seriously, Moss is whatever you make of him: a locker room divider; a comic genius; a selfish player; an indescribable talent; all those things. We'll never fully understand him. But we do understand this: he can help the Vikings win football games, and things tend to be a lot more fun when he's around.

We'll surely have more thoughts on this as it becomes official (though all accounts point to a done deal already). Right now, we're trying to picture Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, Jared Allen and Randy Moss hanging out together in the locker room in full Vikings uniforms, and our head is about to explode.
