Plowable Snowfall Monday? Polar Punch Next Week

We cool off today behind a (weak) Alberta Clipper, before thawing out again over the weekend. Travel conditions should be good through the dinner hour on Sunday, and then conditions may go south. Models bring a streak of snow into Minnesota Sunday night with potentially plowable amounts of powder Monday. There's little doubt that the coldest air since early March will arrive behind this super-sized clipper Tuesday and Wednesday, but a fairly quick temperature rebound is likely late next week. Only 48-72 hours of relative discomfort.

First Subzero Temps. of Winter Next Week - Why a Snowy Coating is Often Deadlier Than a Foot of Snow

First Subzero Temps. of Winter Next Week - Why a Snowy Coating is Often Deadlier Than a Foot of Snow

Admit it, 39F felt pretty amazing out there yesterday afternoon. Considering we're 2 weeks away from the Winter Solstice our expectations are fairly low. The fact that it's now Meteorological Winter will become all too evident next week as the first (fleeting) subzero smack arrives. An inch or two of powder Monday heralds the arrival of numbing air Tuesday and Wednesday - a couple days of single-digit highs should kill any remain skeeters and ragweed.
