Weather Service warns of slippery commute because of light snowfall

November 21, 2013 at 9:59PM

Metro area drivers should be on the lookout for slippery roads during the afternoon commute, according to the National Weather Service.

Dropping temperatures and a light snowfall were expected to create greasy conditions Thursday afternoon.

Accumulations were expected to be less than an inch, but what does fall should be enough to cause headaches for drivers, according to a Weather Service statement.

Several crashes have happened on metro highways already. Traffic is congested along Interstate 94 between St. Paul and Minneapolis, as well as along eastbound Hwy. 36 near Hwy. 280 and on southbound Hwy. 100 between I-394 and Hwy. 62.

It's slow going on southbound Hwy. 169 between I-694 and 62 and on southbound I-494 approaching I-394. Both directons of 62 are jammed up between I-35W and Hwy. 169.

Temperatures were expected to fall to the upper teens Thursday night.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
