Wayne Sales
Title: Supervalu CEO from July 2012 to February 2013
Why selected: Sales, chairman of the ailing firm's board, became CEO after Craig Herkert was terminated and Supervalu was put up for sale. Sales previously had retired as head of one of Canada's largest retailers.
What happened: The sale of half of Supervalu to an investment group led by Cerberus Capital Management was announced in January. A new CEO was announced at the same time, veteran retail executive Sam Duncan.
