Trail cam deployment. Trail cameras were redeployed near the entrance of a property in the 1700 block of Majestic Pine Trail because they keep getting taken down by the respondent of an order for protection.

DENMARK TOWNSHIP

JULY 9

Suspicious item. Someone called authorities about a pink bag by the side of the road in the 12000 block of 100th Street that they suspected was meth-related. A deputy located the bag and found a hookah inside but no drug paraphernalia.

JULY 11

Animal concern. Five loose horses were reported in the backyard of a home in the 7000 block of Lake Elmo. A deputy arrived to help round up what turned out to be 10 horses in the yard. The owner was contacted and agreed to come and pick up the horses.

LAKE ELMO

JULY 8

Theft report. A work trailer was reported stolen overnight from a job site in the 9000 block of Whistling Valley Road. A white Ford F-150 truck pulling the trailer was captured on video driving away from the address.

LAKE ST. CROIX BEACH

JULY 10

Neighbor complaint. A resident in the 1900 block of Quentin Avenue reported her neighbor moved out and left miscellaneous items, including a vehicle, in her yard. The complainant said she spoke to the neighbor, who advised her of his predicament and she agreed to allow the items in the yard for a couple of days. She told authorities he never picked up the items and heard that he had been jailed for 30 days. His mother was contacted to resolve the issue.

LAKELAND

JULY 10

Boater assist. A deputy towed a boater, who had flagged him down on the St. Croix River, to the Hudson boat launch after the boater's engine gave out.

MAHTOMEDI

JULY 7

Suspicious activity. A male in a vehicle with its lights off in a driveway in the 600 block of Florence Avenue reportedly told a resident he was lost and asked for directions. The resident said the man then went off in the opposite direction of what he'd advised. Authorities, who had noticed the vehicle a little earlier, were unable to locate the vehicle.

WEST LAKELAND TOWNSHIP

JULY 10

Dumping complaint. A foul-smelling animal was reported dumped in the grass in the area of Osprey Avenue and Oriole Avenue. It turned out to be a pile of fish. The township was contacted to pick up and dispose of the fish.

WOODBURY

JULY 7

Theft by swindle. A man paying for an appetizer at a restaurant in the 500 block of Woodbury Drive with a $50 bill quick-changed an employee into giving him $45.32. The license plate number given to police didn't match the model of the vehicle that the man drove away in.

JULY 10

Helicopter concern. A white helicopter was reported flying low in the area of Interstate 494 and Tamarack Road. It was determined to be a mosquito control helicopter.

Suspicious activity. Two elderly women walked into a yard in the 5500 block of Garden Drive and accused a resident of stealing their mail and cashing a check that belonged to them. When the resident told them she had no idea what they were talking about, they left. The women, unknown to the complainant and estimated to be in their 70s, left a voice-mail asking for the check several days later. The complainant was advised to contact police if the women return.
