Wanted: Aspiring salon owner Here is the opportunity of a lifetime for a hairstylist or salon manager: The Mall of America is looking for someone to be co-owner of a new salon/spa planned to open this fall. That lucky person will get to be part-owner (with no investment) in the venture, and that includes creating the new spot's look and feel. "We're looking for the person who is the right fit, a superstar or an up-and-comer," said MOA spokesman Dan Jasper. "If you're someone who has never had an opportunity to start a business, here's your opportunity -- the door is opening." Interested salon-ies can contact Maureen Bausch, executive vice president of business development, at mbausch@mallofamerica.com.

Style satire The Walker Art Center (1750 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls., 612-375-7600) will be screening the work of filmmaker William Klein, including the fashion world satire "Who Are You, Polly Maggoo?" (7:30 p.m. Sat.). The 1966 film follows the adventures of the title character, a Brooklyn-born model, in Paris, where a magazine editor (known as the "Dragon Lady") is the major influence. Maggoo is filmed for a confessional-style reality television show. It seems that 40 years later, not much in the industry has changed. The film series will culminate with a discussion with Klein on June 26. See online (www.walker.org) for the full schedule.

Sales & events Finally, a sale that really reflects the current economy. Stephanie's Recession Obsession Sale starts today at 10 a.m. and runs through Sunday. Only at the St. Paul location (758 S. Cleveland Av., 651-690-3802, www.stephaniesshop.com), you'll find premium denim (Citizens for Humanity and James Jeans) for $50, jewelry and handbags for $5 and up and 80 percent off all other merchandise (mostly past season, but who cares?).

On Saturday and Sunday, Birch Clothing (2309 W. 50th St., Mpls., www.birchclothing.com) is having an anniversary sale. Everything in the store will be 20 percent or more off, including clothes from Patagonia, Tianello, Aventura and HT Naturals.

Shop the many jewelry artists at this weekend's Art-A-Whirl (www.nemaa.org) in northeast Minneapolis, including new designer Gia Gifford. Her studio (Q.arma, 1224 Quincy St., B-10, Mpls.) will be open for shoppers looking for sterling silver jewelry, often inspired by nature. When creating this branchlike necklace ($78), Gifford was actually thinking of veins or arteries.

Finally, find your perfect fit at the new La Bratique, an intimate apparel shop within Nani Nalu Beachwear Boutique (3922 W. 50th St., Mpls., 952-546-5598). The grand opening this weekend will feature a Chantelle trunk show plus champagne, sweets, door prizes and 15 percent off your entire purchase. Get personal help with fittings by Jennifer Cermak in swim and Tracy Anderson in bras. Call for one-on-one appointments.

On Sunday, you might want to check out the latest GO International collection hitting select Target stores from designer Tracy Feith, a Texan. Michelle Obama has worn one of his dresses a few times (she repeats!), including the morning after the inauguration. Mark your calendar: Coming this September, Target will offer its next designer collaboration with Anna Sui.
