The construction firm that will overseeing the building of the new home for the Minnesota Vikings is expected to be named later this week at a special meeting of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority.
The authority, which is working with the Vikings on the $975 million downtown Minneapolis stadium project, will meet at 9 a.m. Friday at the Metrodome's Halsey Hall Room to announce the hire and sign off on a construction services contract.
Companies competing for the work are Mortenson Construction, a Twin Cities firm that built Target Field, home of the Twins, and TCF Bank Stadium, home of the University of Minnesota football team, and Hunt Construction, of Scottsdale, Ariz., which is teaming with Kraus-Anderson of Minneapolis. Hunt recently built Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, a retractable roof and retractable wall facility that is home to the NFL's Indianapolis Colts.
