With the NFL getting ready to wrap up its opening weekend tonight and the Vikings' loss at New Orleans now seeming like it took place weeks ago, Brad Childress' team will get back to work this afternoon at Winter Park.

The Vikings will go through a light workout after players had the weekend off. Players watched film on Friday after losing to the Saints and some got a lift in or treatment for injuries before getting a few days to relax.

Today will be more about getting back in the groove of a normal week. Players will then get their normal day off on Tuesday before starting preparations for Sunday's home opener against the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday.

The Vikings also are scheduled to put four free agent wide receivers through workouts early in the week. That list includes Sam Aiken, Reggie Brown, Ruvell Martin and Demetrius Williams.

As far as the Vikings' injury report, it sounds as if rookie running back Toby Gerhart (knee) is close to returning. Cornerback Chris Cook, who is coming off surgery on a torn meniscus in his right knee, might do some work today but it wouldn't be surprising if he misses at least one more game.

The Dolphins are coming off a 15-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. The story of that game was the Dolphins' new-look defense that is led by coordinator Mike Nolan and linebacker Karlos Dansby, who was signed as a free agent this offseason. Dansby, who left Arizona to sign a five-year, $43 million deal with the Dolphins, had a sack and eight tackles as the Bills were held to 166 yards of offense.

Miami hadn't opened the season with a victory since 2005.
