There have been a few things written in recent days about various members of the Vikings gathering for workouts next week in Florida.

Obviously, the team can have nothing to do with these workouts and thus I urge a bit of caution to anyone thinking a significant number of players are going to attend. It sounds as if the current plan is to have about a dozen Vikings, including quarterbacks Christian Ponder and Joe Webb, take part in the camp at the IMG Madden Football Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Players are scheduled to arrive Monday, go through two-a-day workouts on Tuesday and Wednesday and then have one workout on Thursday. The goal will be to hold something that resembles a minicamp, although the mandatory minicamp involves almost all of the players on a team's roster. This won't be close to the case.

Ponder tweeted today that guys scheduled to attend include wide receivers Emmanuel Arceneaux, Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice and tight ends Kyle Rudolph and Visanthe Shiancoe. (No I did not see Bernard Berrian's name on that list.) Shiancoe confirmed in a text message that he will be there.

Essentially those players simply will be joining Ponder and Webb, who already have been working at IMG with Chris Weinke. Chip had a story about Weinke working with quarterbacks in Monday's Star Tribune.
