Vikings add defensive end

Former Texas A&M defensive lineman Spencer Nealy was signed.

The Vikings signed rookie defensive end Spencer Nealy, who played at Texas A&M, to fill a vacant spot on the 90-man roster.

Nealy was undrafted, but signed with Detroit as a free agent. The Lions released him on Aug. 1.

Nealy's father, Ed Nealy, is a former NBA player.

Spencer Nealy is 6-3 and 280 pounds. He played both tackle and end for the Aggies.

The Vikings released cornerback Jacob Lacey on Monday, and Christian Ballard is on active/left squad status while attending to personal issues.
