Paling in comparison
A decent-ish biopic of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, "On the Basis of Sex" (⋆⋆½; PG-13) likely would fare better if it did not come on the heels of the lively documentary "RBG." "Basis" is best when it sticks to things "RBG" couldn't show. The home life of Ginsburg (Felicity Jones) and beloved husband Martin (amiable Armie Hammer) is warm and inspirational. Former Twin Cities actor Chris Mulkey shines as plaintiff Charles Moritz. But nothing Jones does suggests Ginsburg's essence.
