Do the 'Time' warp
Ava DuVernay's "A Wrinkle in Time" (⋆⋆½, rated PG) achieved landmark status even before reaching theaters. The adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle's young-adult sci-fi novel was budgeted at over $100 million, the largest ever for a female director of color. In tackling what many considered an unfilmable book, DuVernay took an enormous swing. Gorgeous and strange, in its best moments "Wrinkle" is a transporting adventure that brings you back to the imaginative adventure of childhood.
