Video: NHL explains Matt Cooke's suspension

"It is important to note that Cooke is leading with his knee, a part of the body wioth which he can not legally deliver a check. ... Instead of avoiding the possibility of illegal contact Cooke further extends his left leg to ensure contact."

That's part of the NHL's explanation for Matt Cooke's seven-game suspension.
