The top-seeded Gophers women's hockey team will play fourth-seeded Minnesota Duluth at 7:07 p.m. Friday in the WCHA tournament semifinals in Bemidji.

The Bulldogs defeated Ohio State 5-1 on Sunday in the third and deciding game of their quarterfinal series. The Gophers took out St. Cloud State in two games Friday and Saturday.

Second-seeded Wisconsin and third-seeded North Dakota will play in the other semifinal at 4:07 p.m. Friday. The Badgers needed three games to eliminate Minnesota State Mankato. They beat the Mavericks 2-0 on Sunday in Madison.

The WCHA championship game is 7:07 p.m. Saturday. The winner earns an automatic NCAA tournament berth.

Gophers beat Louisiana Tech in baseball

Junior Ben Meyer gave up just two hits in seven innings as the Gophers baseball team (6-3) beat Louisiana Tech (3-6) 6-1 in Ruston, La. Meyer retired the Bulldogs in order in every inning except the second during the longest start for any Gophers pitcher this season.

Connor Schaefbauer went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. For the weekend, he went 6-for-12 with five stolen bases.

Gophers softball team beats Arizona State

The Gophers softball team (15-2) rebounded from a 3-1 loss to Florida International earlier in the day by defeating Arizona State 3-2 at the Louisville Slugger Classic in Tempe, Ariz.

The Gophers scored all three of their runs in the top of the sixth inning, and Sara Moulton (10-1) went the distance, giving up four hits and striking out eight. Sara Groenwegen went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The loss to FIU ended a six-game winning streak.

• The Gophers women's tennis team (9-3) defeated Wisconsin 4-3 in its Big Ten opener in Madison. Natallia Pintusava won her singles and doubles matches.

• The NSIC will send 19 wrestlers, including six from St. Cloud State, to the NCAA Division II wrestling championships on March 14-15 in Cleveland.
