• Researchers at the U's Stem Cell Institute are using all kinds of stem cells to research treatments for diseases including Parkinson's, diabetes and heart disease. That research includes embryonic stem cells, although no embryos are created specifically for research use at the U. Instead, it brings cell lines in from other states.
• The U has invested $30 million into stem cell research for such things as faculty, facilities and equipment.
