The Gophers softball team won 7-2 Sunday at at Purdue and finished the regular season 38-9, setting a school record for winning percentage (.809).

Minnesota's 38 victories are its most since 2002.

Sara Groenewegen had a three-run homer and an RBI double for the Gophers, and Madie Eckstrom hit a two-run single. Sara Moulton earned her 24th victory of the season and raised her Gophers record win total to 109.

The Gophers next play at the Big Ten tournament in Evanston, Ill. Minnesota, seeded third, has a first-round bye and will begin play Friday.

Seminoles sweep U

The Gophers baseball team lost 7-1 at Florida State, giving the Seminoles (36-11) a three-game sweep.

Dan Olinger drove in the Gophers run in the third inning, but Minnesota (22-19) left the bases loaded in the inning.

Area colleges

• St. Thomas (29-7, 18-2) swept a baseball doubleheader from Augsburg, 6-3 and 11-1, in Minneapolis and wrapped up its 12th consecutive MIAC regular-season championship.

• ‑St. Scholastica (27-10) won its 12th Upper Midwest softball championship with a 16-1 home victory over Northland, giving the Saints a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament.

• Gustavus won its fourth consecutive MIAC men's tennis tournament title with an 8-1 victory over St. Olaf in the finals in St. Peter, advancing to the Division III tournament.
