University of Minnesota MFA candidate Kate Petersen has received a Wallace Stegner Fellowship in fiction. Petersen, who is from Phoenix, is in her final year of the three-year MFA program. The two-year Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University is one of the nation's most prestigious creative writing fellowships, with about 1,700 applicants last year. Ten fellowships are awarded each year, five in fiction and five in poetry.

• "Kicking Gravity," a collection of poems by Peter Joseph Gloviczki, has been published by Salmon Poetry. Gloviczki, who lives in Minneapolis, will launch the book at 7 p.m. March 29 at Open Book, 1011 Washington Av. S., Mpls. He'll also read at 7 p.m. April 11 at Common Good Books in St. Paul, and at 7:30 p.m. April 19 at Magers & Quinn in Minneapolis.

• The date of the book launch of Bruce Rubenstein's "The Rockwell Heist" has been changed to March 28 at Common Good Books.

• "Murder by Chance: A Betty Chance Mystery," by Pat Dennis, has been published by 40 Press. Dennis, who is also a stand-up comedian, is the author of "Hotdish to Die For" and "Stand-Up and Die." She'll read at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Once Upon a Crime Bookstore in Minneapolis, and at 1 p.m. April 13 at Excelsior Bay Books in Excelsior.

• "A Stone for Amer," by Connie Claire Szarke, has been published by Heron Bay Publishing. The book is the prequel to Szarke's 2011 novel, "Delicate Armor." Szarke will be at the Bloomington Writers' Festival on March 23, and will read and sign books at 7 p.m. April 4 at Excelsior Bay Books in Excelsior.
