Rob Hahn has written a soon-to-be published novel -- Robbob for Governor -- but was by the Star Tribune's Capitol bureau Tuesday to pitch Rob Hahn for governor.

Hahn, who lives in St. Paul, is running as an Independence Party candidate. He says he is "pro-life across the board," which includes opposition to abortion, supporting stem cell research and helping people with their basic needs. He said he'd consider an increase in taxes for the wealthy but would also reduce capital gains taxes.

A former, producer at WCCO-AM, he's now the president of Hahn Publications, which publishes The Midwest Wine Connection and Minnesota Prep Sports.

He also wrote a mystery called The Funeral Home Murders, which Publishers Weekly described as, "Hahn's tepid debut introduces Sean Kelly, a brash, cocky and smart-mouthed TV reporter who drives a classic 1984 Jaguar XJ6, wears Saville Row suits and favors good wine and better cigars."

Hahn will officially announce his bid on Thursday at the Capitol.

Meanwhile, last Friday John T. Uldrich quietly filed his Independence Party candidacy for governor with the campaign finance board.

Uldrich ran for the U.S. Senate as a Republican in 2006, when he said he was running to "reinvent America in perilous times," and ran for the Minneapolis School Board in 2004.

Rahn Workcuff, who has filed to run for various offices in the past, filed papers to ran as an Independence Party candidate last October.
