Two people were killed in separate traffic crashes Monday morning, one in Wright County and one in southwestern Minnesota, authorities said.

Officials in Wright County are investigating the circumstances surrounding a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 5:05 a.m. at County Roads 11 and 37 in Maple Lake Township. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Capt. Dan Anselment of the Wright County Sheriff's Office.

The victim's name has not been released.

About 90 minutes later, a 21-year-old man died in a crash that involved a semitrailer truck near Windom, Minn., the State Patrol said.

The man was driving northbound on Hwy. 71 between 360th Street and 370th Street when he lost control of his Ford Focus about 6:31 a.m. and slid into the path of a southbound semitrailer truck, the patrol said.

The name of the victim has not been released. The driver of the semi, Daniel Kronbach, 29, of Lamberton, Minn., was not injured, the patrol said.
