Mark Buehrle was a headline writer's dream in the papers this morning.

"I hate the Twins," one headline blared. But it was just half of the quote.

``...because they're good and they win," Buehrle added.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire still got a kick out it.

``It doesn't get any better than that," he said. ``That's a great article and that's why its fun. Buehrle, we have faced him 10 million times and that's good stuff. That's the way its been, back and forth.

Gardy later added: ``We kind of feel the same way about him. I like it when Buehrle pitches because I know we are going to get home quick. It's going to be two hours."

About today's matchup between Francisco Liriano and John Danks,Gardenhire said: ``Who's going to blink first. Who's going to make the first mistake and get some runs on the board because you have two good pitchers and someone is going to have to miss one over the plate and someone is going to have to whack one. Hopefully us."

Gardy killed FSN's Ron Coomer before the game when he held up a t-shirt from Mount Carmel High School, a Catholic League power here. Coomer spent some of his prep career at St. Rita one of their rivals, and was not pleased.

I went to Mendel, where we stunk in most sports (except basketball and track), so I hate both those schools.

Full disclosure: Twins bullpen coach Rick Stelmasek and I both attended Mendel (at different times, of course). Here's the kicker; My sister and Stelly's wife both attended St. Thomas Aquinas (at different times, of course).

Final Chicago-centric note: Stelly had the coaching staff over to his house, on the southeast side, on Monday for a big feed bag.

Carl Pavano is expected to make his start on Thursday despite his latest stiff neck episode.

There is no new news on Justin Morneau's recovery from a July 7 concussion: ``We're just trying to let him get well," Gardenhire said. Gardy did say Morneau continues to work out at Target Field.
