I can't count the times over the years when I would drive to downtown Minneapolis on a glorious Saturday afternoon and mutter to myself about having to go inside to watch baseball at the Dome. My friends would be at either a lake or a cabin - or both - enjoying the weather and rubbing it in.

Today, we're covering baseball the way it should be covered. It's oustanding outside.

Watched Josh Hamilton put on a show during batting practice. He inside-outed a ball off the wall behind the bullpens. He also cranked one that hit near the top of the batter's eye that's behind the Black Spruce trees in center. You wonder what his career would be like if he never had to battle the demons.

Justin Morneau arrived at the ballpark on Saturday and asked manager Ron Gardenhire, ``what's the DH spot looking like today?" So Morneau gets to DH with Michael Cuddyer at first base.

Joe Mauer is 1-for-11 against C.J. Wilson

Nick Punto still feels pain when he swings right-handed, so Brendan Harris gets the start at third base.

Pat Neshek, who has missed 24 games with a sprained finger, is throwing bullpen sessions at Fort Myers, Fla., and, barring a setback, is getting close to being assigned to Class A Fort Myers to start a rehabilitation assignment.
