The Twins have promoted 2009 first-round draft pick Kyle Gibson to Class AA New Britain, highlighting another busy day of minor-league news.

Twins minor league director Jim Rantz said Gibson is scheduled to make his first Eastern League start on Saturday at Harrisburg, weather permitting. Gibson went 4-1 with a 1.87 ERA for Class A Fort Myers and concluded an impressive seven-start stint there Monday, when he held Tampa to one run on five hits in 6 2/3 innings.

"Obviously, his numbers kind of speak for themselves," Rantz said of Gibson, who went 4-0 with a 1.36 ERA in his last six starts, with 33 strikeouts and 10 walks in 39 2/3 innings.

Rantz also said RHP Tom Stuifbergen, who is 4-0 with a 1.13 ERA for Class A Beloit and RHP Bobby Lanigan, who is 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA for Fort Myers, have both been played on the DL because with strained right elbows. RHP Brad Tippett (0-2, 6.00 ERA) also has been placed on the Fort Myers DL with a right biceps strain.
